Residents in Walkeringham have made their objections known about the recent plans to develop 17 new homes in the village.
The concerns are centred around the fact that the Nottinghamshire village, but specifically the land in question, is prone to flooding and did so as recently as the start of January 2025.
Flooding was reportedly so severe that Walkeringham Primary School had to close and Severn Trent were called out to several properties.
The proposed dwellings are situated on a greenfield site opposite the primary school.
Other objections were on the grounds of loss of privacy, traffic and access issues. Doncaster Radio is told that as many as 16 properties are adjacent to the development site and would be affected by it. There is also concern that increased amounts of traffic on North Moor Drive will make the road potentially dangerous for older residents.
Plans were submitted to Bassetlaw District Council by the applicant in the run up to Christmas last year, with residents being informed through letters dated 19th December 2024.
Bassetlaw District Council have been contacted for comment, but have so far declined.
As of the 21st January, residents in Walkeringham have not had any more correspondence from any of the relevant stakeholders.
