Airport campaigners hail positive public meeting

Doncaster Sheffield Airport is under threat of closure

Campaigners trying to save Doncaster Sheffield Airport say a public meeting on Thursday night was positive with an amazing 'standing room only' attendance.

Hundreds went along to the event at the EcoPower Stadium, organised by South Yorkshire Mayor Oliver Coppard.
Local MP Nick Fletcher was there; he says it's been made clear how strongly locals feel about what Peel are trying to do.
Attendees say they're none the wiser on airport owner Peel's alternative plans for the site, except that it won't be quarrying.
People are being encouraged to share the petition objecting to the closure, and contact those in positions of influence.
Friday 5 August marks day 24 of a 42 day consultation period.
